Stage One Term Fatigue

Four weeks of the term are over, and I’m only just now starting to waiver. That’s like two weeks longer than usual! It’s all right – I’m still in the game for good grades and pride. I just have to stay focused.

Lifetime Health and Fitness: This is my easy class for sure. The instructor is great, the material isn’t difficult, and the work load is pretty light. I should probably start taking notes during his lectures though.

Intro to Philosophy: I love the material, so that spurs me into doing most of the reading a lot of the time, which… isn’t a perfect system, I realize. Read the rest of this entry »

Birds and Weasels

My Moment

The first session was the one I was a panelist for, “Managing a Two-Year Newspaper.” I was jazzed for the opportunity, and I had a lot of fun doing it. The panel consisted of me and three others: Paul Bonnette of Florida (I was a big fan of this guy), Ashley Hiruko of Washington, and Mackenzie Clark of Kansas.

I feel like I did well, and I hear I was rather engaging.

Session Highlights

“The Eyes Have It” – The presenter was Nils Rosdahl, the birds and weasels guy. He had a habit of addressing the crowd as various kinds of animals through his whole presentation, but the audience loved it – funny guy. This was more or less a checklist to keep you aware of nonverbal communication in regards to interviews and storytelling. Point by point, he addressed appearance, mannerisms, style, environment, and other things (like punctuality, scent, etc).

Basically, don’t be distracting and rock your charm (your number eight). Read the rest of this entry »
